The Office of Women's Policy invites all women in the Darwin region to attend a forum on 28 March 2012 to discuss issues relevant to women, share their vision for the future, and help shape the Northern Territory Government’s new policy for women.

The Tribute to Northern Territory Women award was initiated by the Northern Territory Government in 2002 providing all Territorians the opportunity to recognise, celebrate and commemorate the remarkable women in their lives and communities.
The awards are presented on or around International Women’s Day
Last night at a reception at Parliament House, Minister for Women’s Policy Hon Malarndirri McCarthy presented three Tribute to Northern Territory Women awards to coincide with International Women’s Day – 8 March.

The Northern Territory Government in partnership with Volunteering SA&NT have announced that nominations are now closed for the 2012 Northern Territory Volunteer of the Year Awards.
The 2012 awards will be held in May during National Volunteer Week.
The awards have three categories:
The winners of the two individual categories will each receive $2500 to donate to a not-for-profit organisation of their choice. The winning small organisation will receive $3000 and the winning large organisation will receive $2000. Community organisations will also recognise their Most Valuable Volunteer, who will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition.

Minister for Senior Territorians, Chris Burns, announced the winners of the 2011/12 Seniors Card Business of Excellence Awards earlier this month.
Flight Path Golf & Outdoor Recreation in Berrimah was named this year’s winner of the Tourism and Leisure Award, while Darwin Fish Markets was awarded the winner of the General Business category.
The businesses were recognised for their generous offers and great service to senior Territorians.
The Seniors Card Business of Excellence Awards was introduced in 2009 to acknowledge the commitment of businesses and to provide Seniors with the opportunity to nominate their favourite Senior-friendly outlets, and continues to grow each year.
Throughout the Territory, 600 businesses are listed in the Seniors Card Business Directory that offers information to 16,200 Seniors Card holders.
The Northern Territory Seniors Card Scheme is a partnership between the Northern Territory Government and the private sector to acknowledge the contribution Senior Territorians make to the community.

New Smoke Alarm Legislation commences 1 November 2011.

National Child Protection Week, is a national campaign held each year throughout Australia to raise awareness of child abuse prevention.
This year's week runs from 4th to the 11th of September and themed is Play Your Part to keep children safe.
